6th International Symposium on Food Packaging, Barcelona, Spain, 16-18 November 2016

Peter Šimon of the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Slovak University of Technology gave the talk – Nanotoxicity and the migration of nanoparticles from packaging to food, at the 6th International Symposium on Food Packaging. The talk addressed the advent of nanotechnologies in food packaging as they are mechanically and chemically superior to traditional materials in many ways. However there is little data on the migration of Nanoparticles from the packaging to the food, this talk formed a lecture on how the Nanoparticles from polymer packaging to food could proceed and how the extent could be predicted. The results of this study indicate that this application of nanotechnology may not carry any significant risk of NPs exposure for a consumer.
